Interahamwe and the Impuzamugambi
The Interahamwe are known as the militant group that started the genocide in Rwanda. This group consisted of young Hutu men that basically were hand-and-hand with the Rwandan government.
The Impuzamugambi were a smaller, more vicious militant group. This group arose from the a younger group of people in the political group called the CDR (or Coalition for the Defense of the Republic).
The Hutu government, members from the Rwandan army, and even Hutu civilians were all involved with making the things that were happening. The Rwandan army actually participated in directing militias, sending death orders, and rounding up victims themselves. Some of the civilians would also support the genocide. Those civilians would hand over their Tutsi and moderate Hutu neighbors to the government or even kill them.
