OverviewThe Rwandan genocide was the mass slaughtering of the Tutsi and politically moderate Hutu people. The genocide started in early April of 1994 and lasted about 100 days. The genocide ended when the "Hutu Power" movement was defeated in the middle of July. The genocide was mainly carried out by the Hutu militia groups, Rwandan Army, Rwandan government, and some Hutu people who supported it. By the end, there were around 800,000 - 1,000,000 people who were killed (Rwandan, 2014).
